Our dual diagnosis program helps overcome addiction from alcohol and other drugs. It provides flexible pathways and access to clinical teams and psychiatrists via our immersive inpatient program or supportive day program.

Is our program right for you?

Our dual diagnosis program offers comprehensive support if you are facing both addiction and mental health disorders.

It can help if you:

  • rely on alcohol or other drugs, which is impacting daily life
  • experience co-occurring disorders like anxiety, depression, PTSD or mood disorders
  • struggle with relationships and responsibilities both personally and professionally
  • want to understand the causes of your addiction
  • seek connections with peers for shared experiences and mutual encouragement
  • want to learn practical tools and life skills to navigate challenges, prevent relapse and maintain long-term recovery, or
  • want to improve your mental health and overcome addiction to lead a fulfilling life.

Program options

  • 3-week intensive inpatient program
  • 12-week transition day program, one half-day weekly

Inpatient program

Our 3-week intensive inpatient program will help you to understand your addiction cycle and contributing factors. You will also learn strategies to manage your thoughts, emotions and behaviour, and find ways to build a new life.

Program content includes:

  • understanding and managing addiction
  • bio-psychosocial and neurobiological models of addiction
  • motivation and stages of change, and
  • relationships.

Day program

Our 12-week transition day program is specially designed to support you as you reintegrate into everyday life after completing our intensive inpatient program.

This program addresses the common challenges that arise when reducing or eliminating substances, helping you to bridge the gaps in your daily routine. With practical strategies and community support, you’ll gain the tools you need to manage life confidently and successfully without substances.

How to get started

If you are new to Avive and our programs, ask your psychiatrist or GP for a referral. We will also arrange any necessary mental health assessments before you begin.

If you are completing inpatient treatment at an Avive facility and transitioning to our day program, your psychiatrist will refer you.

Costs

Our facilities are licensed private hospitals, and we have contracts with most health funds. Generally, most, if not all, costs are covered by your fund. To confirm the costs specific to you, we can check your health fund coverage and let you know if any out-of-pocket costs or gap fees are payable. We’re here to help you navigate the details.

If you are self-insured and considering an inpatient program or day program, contact us and we can provide a detailed cost breakdown for both options.

Simply complete the enquiry or referral form below and we will contact you directly to answer any further questions you have or guide you through your admission.
